• the cathedral… Miguel arrives at a magnificent cathedral. Through the stained-glass windows, he sees his father. The euphonium and piano trade phrases back and forth as if they are speaking to each other. This is the moment of reunion.

• together… Father and son explore the cathedral together. The music becomes warm, joyful, and full of light. Reality seems to disappear as the stained glass glows brighter and brighter. For a moment, everything feels whole again.

• alone, when he sings.. The dream fades. Miguel awakens years later as a college student. He is alone, but he plays his euphonium for comfort. As he looks toward the night sky, the stars begin forming the image of his father. The piano introduces his father’s lullaby, and it feels as though his father is answering from above. 5.

•Acceptance... A new melody appears. Miguel realizes that although his father is gone physically, he never truly left. He remains in memory, love, music, and the person Miguel has become. The piece ends not in sadness, but in peace.
